A murder investigation is ongoing after a man was shot dead in a parking lot in Long Beach, police said Saturday.
The violence unfolded Friday night, according to the Long Beach Police Department, located in the 5400 block of Paramount Blvd.
It was around 7:54pm that officers responded to a shooting call in the area and arrived to find someone identified only as an adult man with upper body injuries.
Officers began providing medical assistance until Long Beach Fire Emergency Service arrived, but eventually declared the victim dead at the scene. Police said medical inspectors’ Los Angeles County Department is working to determine the identity of the deceased, and will then be withheld on the next pending party.
A murder detective has arrived to begin an investigation. No arrests have been made as of Saturday night, but the department told KTLA: “Our detectives are actively pursuing all leads in this ongoing investigation.”
When asked if there was an explanation of the suspect, the department replied, “The motives of the shooting, suspicious information and the circumstances of the incident are currently under investigation.”
