Shake Shack worked with the Los Angeles Fire Department to help raise funds for firefighters for one burger at a time.
The exclusive collaboration between the Burger Chain and the Fire Station took place at eeeeeeatscon, a food festival stylized like a music festival. The town also has restaurants in other parts of the United States, so that foodies can try new things “that otherwise would require plane tickets.”
Erin Myers of KTLA 5 was in Santa Monica on Sunday on the lucky mission to try out all the delicious cooking options at Eeeeeatscon, including the Shake Shack X Lafd Collab.

“We have prepared a menu to celebrate where we are and the history of Shake Shack. [LAFD Captain John Marasco] Shakeshack’s executive chef, John Carrangis, told Myers that the firefighter captain standing next to him is named him.
The burger comes with “Fire Engine Red” pepper relish, sweet and spicy peppers, and as chef Karangis said, “All the good things you get with traditional ketchup have just been promoted.”
Lake fires continue to grow on Sunday mornings with little containment. There is still an evacuation order
It’s great to have on top of an American cheeseburger with shack pickles and spicy shack sauce (as Captain Marasco likes to keep it spicy), but maybe no more than that.
“We have the legendary crinkle-cut fries and we’ve taken more of the bounty of Southern California, so we have a sea urchin shed sauce with light rain over the fries,” explained Chef Karangis. “And we have some shaved, marinated Meyer lemons and crunchy shrimp with fresh chives that bring a big sour taste.

LAFD captain Marasco quickly said that “two Johns are right” when it comes to creating the burger.
“Chef John allowed me to work with him on this burger, which is amazing,” Captain Marasco said.

If the words of the chef and fire chief aren’t enough to convince you to try and create a limited edition food, then perhaps Erin Myers’ opinion on burgers is.
“It’s so good… the perfect amount of spice,” she said after a big bite.
“LAFD Firehouse Shack” is not available at regular Shake Shack locations. Available only on Sundays at eeeeeatscon. For each burger sold, $1 will be sent to the Los Angeles Fire Station Foundation. This helps LAFD provide the community with critical equipment and programs.
The Eeeeeatscon will be held at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica until 6pm on Sundays.
