The rapidly moving wildfires in Riverside County expanded to about 100 acres Sunday evening, prompting mandatory evacuation orders for several zones of Aguanga’s unorganized community.

In an evening update, authorities said progress on the advance has stopped, crews have acquired 50% containment of the flames and no injuries have been reported, but authorities have been urging residents in affected areas to stay for now.

Evacuation orders are classified as immediate threats to life, but are issued for the following zones:

RVC-1979 RVC-2044 RVC-2178 RVC-2180

Additionally, evacuation warnings indicate potential threats to life or property, but are issued as follows:

RVC-2043 RVC-2115 RVC-2177 RVC-2178 (partially in both the warning and order zones)

Residents who may need additional time to evacuate, or who have pets or livestock, are highly recommended to leave now.

The evacuation shelter is set up as follows:
Hemet High School
41701 E. Stetson Avenue
Hemet, CA 92544

Animal shelters are open for pets:
San Jacinto Animal Campus
581 S. Grand Avenue
San Jacinto, CA 92582

The wildfire, officially named Mindy Fire, was first reported Sunday around 3:41pm near Mindy Way and Decker Road, according to the Riverside County Fire Department. Firefighters work to contain the flames that continue to produce large visible pillars of smoke throughout the region.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Wolf fire erupts in Riverside County, prompting evacuation orders

Authorities initially did not report any immediate threat to the home, but the fire has sparked widespread concern from residents. Commenting on the official fire station update, one Facebook user said, “You can see the huge pillar of smoke from Oak Ridge Ranch in East Temecula… a great thank you to all the fire staff!”

The fire is being monitored by Alert California, a statewide wildfire detection system operated in partnership with the University of California. Images from the remote camera show dramatic smoke plumes from Mindifier along nearby wolves’ fires, highlighting the wider wildfire activity throughout the region.

This is a developing story. If more information becomes available, please check here for ongoing updates.
