The 24th week of President Donald Trump’s return to his elliptical office will focus on Republican lawmakers passing a massive law that will advance the president’s agenda in time for the July 4th deadline.
Trump’s 23rd week in office was one of the most consequential things in his book after critics said he threatened to draw the United States into another war after ordering a US military strike at a trio of Iran’s nuclear facilities last Saturday evening. Instead, the strike appears to have wiped out Iran’s burgeoning nuclear program, which has put the Middle East and countries around the world at an extreme rate. It ended with a ceasefire between Iran and Israel as Trump took the victory lap to end the “12-day war.”

“One big and beautiful bill”
The Washington, D.C. Republicans are focusing this week on passing “one big, beautiful bill” to land legislation on Trump’s desk for his signature ahead of the lawmaker’s July 4 deadline. The Budget Settlement Bill, if passed, will advance Trump’s agenda on taxes, immigration, energy, defense and government bonds. The law is currently in front of the Senate.
Senate Republicans successfully carried the law against procedural hurdles late Saturday in a 51-49 party-affiliated vote after hours of negotiations. All Republicans are RN.C. , RN.C. , and Randpole, R-KY’s Randpole voted in favor of moving forward in the bill. Tillis announced on Sunday that he will not seek re-election in 2026 after defeating his Republican colleagues and president.
Schumer forces the Senate to read the entire “big and beautiful bill” in the Senate
Following the procedural vote, Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer, DN.Y., requested that Senate floor clerks read the entire version of Trump’s megaville in 940-page Senator GOP as a delayed tactic that kept the discussion on the package stagnant for about 16 hours.

The senators will hold a 20-hour discussion that is evenly divided between Democrats and Republicans as the bill moves ahead of Friday’s deadline. Senate Democrats are expected to use all their allocated time, while Senate Republicans will only use a portion of their time.

Continuing discussion with Iran
The White House is scheduled to hold ongoing talks with Iran this week after the US successfully carried out a military strike at three nuclear facilities across the country last Saturday.
“That’s why Iran wants to meet. You know, their site has disappeared. Their extremely evil nuclear site,” Trump told the media last week.
Details relating to the reported discussions are vague and Iran denied participating in ongoing consultations, but the White House said the US is in close communication with Iranians and intermediaries.
Graham presents the basic rules for negotiations in Iran and says “we are in trouble” until certain changes are made.
“I spoke with Witkov this morning with our special envoys, and I can assure you that we continue to communicate closely with the Iranians and our intermediaries, Kataris, who was our incredible ally and partner throughout this effort. “And as I said, this regime has always been focused on diplomacy and peace, and we want to ensure that Iran can reach a place where it agrees to a non-existent civil nuclear programme.
“The President wants peace. He has always had it. And now we are on a diplomatic path with Iran. The President and his team continue to communicate with the Iranians, especially our Gulf and Arab partners,” she added.

Trump announced on June 21 that the US had successfully carried out a strike against Iran with a true social post where media leaks and speculations had not been made before that the attack was imminent. Unexpected social media posts followed a brief Trump speech to the nation hours later, while adjacent to Secretary of Defense, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Vice President JD Vance.
“Some time ago, the US military carried out massive precision strikes at the Iranian regime’s three key nuclear facilities, Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan,” Trump told the White House in a speech to the country late on Saturday on the strike. “Everyone has heard their names for many years because they built this horribly destructive company. Our aim was to destroy Iran’s nuclear enrichment capabilities and to stop the nuclear threat posed by the terrorist sponsors of the world’s first state. Tonight, I can report to the world that the strike is an epic military success.”

The operations included the longest B-2 Spirit bomber mission since 2001, the second longest B-2 mission ever flew, and the largest B-2 operational strike in US history, Heggs said.
Operation Midnight Hammer was halted after months of attempts to negotiate nuclear talks and then raised concerns that Iran was moving forward with nuclear programs, following Israel, which launched its first strike on June 12.

Trump floats a ceasefire in Gaza
While celebrating the ceasefire between Israel and Iran, while celebrating an independent US-brokered peace agreement between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo on Friday, Trump predicted the possibility of a ceasefire in Gaza as the Hamas-Israel war has been ongoing since 2023.
Speaking to the media from an oval office on Friday, Trump called the situation in Gaza “bad,” but expressed optimism and could soon have a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.
“I think it’s close. I just talked to some of the people involved,” the president said.

Trump also tackled the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, saying, “You know, you’re supplying the area with a lot of money and lot of food because you have to, because you have to. Theoretically, we’re not involved in it, but people are dying.”

Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dahmer is scheduled to travel to Washington, D.C. this week and is expected to meet with his US counterparts to discuss the ceasefire agreement, the Associated Press reported.
