Trump appointee Kari Lake plans to make a big cut to American voice broadcast

VOA is probably a DOA.

At least that’s an interpretation of Lake Kari.

Lake failed in 2022 for the governor of Arizona. She ran towards the Senate in 2024 and lost.

Therefore, President Trump appointed Lake to lead the US global media agency.

Kari Lake has declared the US global media institution as a “rotten core.”

The worst thing about the broadcast is the atmosphere of death. And that might be the lake’s goal – a former Arizona TV news anchor.

“It’s really like a rotten fish,” Lake said before a recent House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing. “And it’s best to throw everything away and start over.”

She will compil the impact of other government media such as Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, Cuba Broadcasting, Radio Free Asia, and Middle East Broadcast Networks.

“We need to modernize. I don’t think it’s going to be effective anymore to do TV in the 1990s,” Lake said.

The hearing marked the first time Lake testified before lawmakers since President Trump slammed her into the position. She told lawmakers that Chinese spies had broken into VOA’s Mandarin Services. And Russian spook made almost salary in free Europe on radio.

“This is not the voice of America. It is the voice of America’s enemy,” said Rep. Andy Barr, R-KY.

Democrats say VOA suppression will silence the US from sending news and truthful information to enemy territory.

D-Calif. Rep. Brad Sherman was offensive in the Trump administration’s plan to cancel many of the government’s radio and television broadcasts overseas.

“My God. That’s the worst and stupidest thing we can do in diplomacy,” Shaman said. “That’s our soft power. It’s our efforts to bring freedom of information and, hopefully, democracy to the whole world. It’s the way we describe ourselves in dozens of different languages. And to encourage them?

Sherman reiterated concerns about a decline in soft power at the hearing, adding that changes to the VOA lineup could appeal to special overseas audiences.

“I think Putin is very happy,” Sherman said of the Russian leader. “The bombs are powerful. The truth is even stronger.”

But it’s not just Democrats who are worried about the static government’s radio waves.

Rep. Young Kim, R-Calif, says that free radio Asia will spark electricity in China and North Korea.

“We’ve let go of a journalist who’s spent decades building trust and trust with our audience,” Kim said. “Without reporting from the outside world through VOA and (Radio Free Asia), most North Korean civilians see the United States as just a bad guy.”

Kim feared that the United States would “not be able to win in the field of information.”

Lake recently canned 639 global media employees. She says that her orders came from the top.

Rep. Gregory Meek, Dn.Y., the top Democrat on the Foreign Affairs Committee, asked what kind of “reviews” she had.

“What we reviewed was a March 14 executive order by a man in charge of the administrative department. The HS name is Donald Trump,” Lake said.

The Court of Appeal states that VoA’s Overhaul Cali Lake “modernization” agent: “President Trump’s great victory”

She then posted a photo of the president and showed it to lawmakers facing her on Day.

Democrats argue that that’s exactly the problem as the President and Lake are trying to redesign the US government’s broadcasting station.

“I see why Trump put you in this position. He doesn’t want the free press,” Senator Madeleine Dean, D-Penn sc. “You’re a propaganda machine of the Trump administration.”

Democrats piled up.

“I am also concerned about your ability to promote American democracy given the dictators who support your background,” said D-Wash Rep. Pramila Jayapal.

Other Democrats highlighted the controversial political history of the Lake and how they questioned the outcomes of both races.

“You’ve been granted twice to provide false information to the court. Isn’t that true? Yes, no?” said D-Ariz, former mayor of Phoenix.

“I was brave enough to fight the tinsel elections, and the courts haven’t caught up,” Bucklake fired.

Trump orders the dismantling of government-funded “propaganda” media outlets

“Americans can’t believe what you say,” Stanton said. “You are lost, fair and square. Instead of acknowledging, you lie over and over again over the years, shameful for yourself and our nation, and blame everything for your loss, except for your own toxic politics. You lie about today’s election.”

After the double political loss of the lake, Stanton had the lake’s demands.

“You agree with us, will you run back and run again?” he asked.

Lake came across more friendly questions from R-Mich’s Rep. Bill Huizenga. He asked about the potential messages our global media could broadcast worldwide.

“Do you think some of the most important stories and tenants about America have to say things that have not been said?” asked Huizenga.

“I think it’s just the history of this country and the history of this country. Our freedom. Our freedom. Our Bill of Rights was Mr. Lake.

“Maybe our country is being established?” proposed Huizenga.

“Our country is in the establishment of, especially this year, 250 years,” replied Lake.

“That seems to me like a pretty big story to tell,” Huizenga added.

Big and beautiful weekend on the hill: “Are you guys still having fun?”

Congress asked the VOA to beam for the news behind the iron curtains during the Cold War. But today Republicans are questioning the need for it. Especially when people get news from the phone now.

“Goddangit, that’s not very efficient,” said R-Tenn Rep. Tim Burchett.

“It’s a relic,” declared the lake.

“Yes, ma’am, it’s a relic of the Cold War,” agreed Burchet.

The VOA fired dozens of staff in the Persian division. However, tensions between Iran and Israel have recovered some programming. It reached its peak with recent US airstrikes. However, VOA’s Persian service was used for broadcasts 24 hours a day, seven days a week. VoA has bolstered several reports amid the crisis, but that was only a small part of the work the organization had previously done.

“From my understanding, the VOA operations are almost gone,” Kim observed at the hearing.

“No. It’s not gone. We’re doing what we legally need,” replied Lake. “Legal minimum.”

This means that VOA and other services are nothing more than shells. Congress will prepare a federal government-wide spending bill for the next three months. Decisional lawmakers’ decisions on VOA and global media funding would predict the organization’s future. And if the microphone is permanently silent.
