A new wildfire broke out in Riverside County on Monday, prompting the rapid expansion and urges evacuation, which had been downgraded to warnings late in the evening.
Firefighters said it was called Juniper Fire because it was located near Juniper Road and Juniper Road near Idaleona Road and Juniper Road in the unadorned Perris area.
By 6pm, the fire had swelled to about 689 acres and “the penetration rate had stopped,” officials said. The fire is currently contained at 10%, but all evacuation warnings and orders remain.
Evacuation orders have been issued for the following zones:
RVC-1059 South of East Orange Avenue on El Nido Road, west of North Forest Road, Rocky Hills
Residents of these zones are under legal orders to evacuate immediately. Authorities emphasize that these areas are under imminent threat and are now closed to public access.
Evacuation warnings are valid in the following zones:
RVC-1060 RVC-1170 RVC-1172 RVC-1173 RVC-1273 North A&B of Eucalyptus on Highway 74 East, south of Ellis Avenue
People in these areas need to prepare to leave with a momentary notice.

A Care & Reception Center was established at Citrus Hill High School, 18150 Wood Road, Perris, California, for evacuees who need shelters and assistance.
Santa Rosa Mine Road was closed between Juniper Road and Post Road. Authorities are urging the public to leave the area for safety and to allow paramedics unobstructed access.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
