The Fullerton man was sentenced to 100 years in prison after firing three Santa Ana’s people, injured one, released parole and is subject to GPS monitoring.
Jonell Jackson, 40, is a rapist who was convicted twice in June of each of the following felony charges.

He was also found guilty of counting discharge firearms in occupied vehicles.
The Orange County District Attorney’s Office said in a news release that Jackson drove two acquaintances to a 99-cent-only store on Main Street on February 18, 2024.
Upon reaching the parking lot, Jackson was caught up in an argument with the driver of a nearby car parked. Jackson shot four or five times, with the first round hitting the passenger seat when the other vehicle drove away with two passengers inside.
The Orange County Register reports that the victim “inflicted a gunshot wound to the left forearm.”
“Police used Jackson’s GPS monitor to find him at a nearby hotel, where he was arrested for possession of two guns,” authorities said.
Prosecutors also received help from Jackson’s brother, the register added.
“Around five hours after the shooting, the defendant’s brother flagged a Buena Park police officer and said he was in the car with Jackson during the incident,” the prosecutor said.
Jackson was sentenced to 25 years in prison for the fourth consecutive year.
“The violence that Jonell Jackson has been involved in for a lifetime is why California voters support three strikes and stay behind the bars they belong to,” District Attorney Todd Spitzer said. “I am grateful that Judge Schwarm has used his discretion to protect the public and victims to continue to be victimized by those who knew they were being monitored by law enforcement.
According to the California Megan Law website, Jackson was previously convicted of rape in 2015 by forced or fear and was released in 2020.
