Israel has agreed to a proposal led by the Trump administration for a 60-day ceasefire, during which President Donald Trump said all political parties will work to end the war in the Middle East.
“My representative was holding a long and productive meeting with the Israelis in Gaza today,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social on Tuesday. “Israel has agreed to the conditions necessary to secure a 60-day ceasefire, during which we will work with all political parties to end the war.
“The Catalis and Egyptians who worked so hard to bring peace will provide this final proposal,” Trump added. “I hope Hamas will make this deal for the benefit of the Middle East, because it won’t get better. It will only get worse. Thank you for paying attention to this issue!”
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said on Monday that “Israel is serious about its willingness to reach a hostage deal and to reach a ceasefire in Gaza.”
Trump puts pressure on Israel to end the Gaza conflict.
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar will shake hands with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on February 15, 2025 when he arrived in Israel on the first foot of a trip to the Middle East in Tel Aviv, Israel.
He noted that Jerusalem had accepted the recent proposal presented by special envoy Steve Witkov, but rejected Hamas as he did not include a permanent ceasefire solution and a plan to withdraw Israeli forces from Gaza.
Witkov is expected to run through new negotiations to head to Cairo in the next few days.

The president is urging Israel to end the conflict in Gaza and secure hostage trade.
Ending Israeli military operations in Gaza would prove an important step in expanding Trump’s ambitions to lead a new country to Abraham’s agreement.

“There is an opportunity right in front of us,” Sa’ar said, reflecting his ambition to reach the Jerusalem covenant. “We paid for the new reality of the Middle East with the blood of soldiers and civilians.”
“Israel is interested in expanding peace and normalization in the Abraham Accord Circle. We are interested in adding neighbors such as Syria and Lebanon to the circle of peace and normalization, while protecting Israel’s essential interests and security,” he added.

Before today, Trump has not elaborated by countries interested in normalizing diplomatic relations with Israel, but countries like Saudi Arabia have made it clear that normalization is off-table as long as Palestinians continue to suffer in the Israeli-Hama conflict.
