The registered sex offender has been arrested on charges of allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl in San Bernardino County.
The suspect was identified as 50-year-old Ardy Vance Thompson of Victorville, according to the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Office.
On June 24th, the girl was greeted by Thompson. He said he would take her to an abandoned area west of the National Trails Highway, an unincorporated area of Oro Grande before allegedly giving her marijuana.
While parked there, Thompson is accused of sexually assaulting the girl. It is unclear how the two first met, but authorities said Thompson was not known to the victims prior to the incident.

With the help of surveillance video, Thompson was later identified as a suspect and was arrested for rape on June 28th. He was taken to West Valley Detention Center, where he was held on $500,000 bonds.
Deputies confirmed that Thompson is currently listed as a “violent sex offender” on Megan’s legal website in California.
“It is believed that there may be other Thompson victims, and investigators have released photos of Thompson and his car,” the Sheriff’s Department said.
His car is a 2009 dark grey Hyundai accent two-door hatchback.
Anyone who may have been affected by Thompson or has information about the incident will be asked to send Deputy R. Morales or sheriffs at 760-552-6800 at Victor Valley Station.
