How many people can you say that we were Dodger fans before we were born?
Amri Arias certainly can. The 2-year-old from Pico Rivera recently went viral in a 12-second clip posted on Tiktok, where he named his favorite Dodger player.
Her mother, Jacqueline Arias, said she would originally film the video and send it to her husband, Daniel. However, they decided to post it to Tiktok without hoping it would reach nearly a million views.
“She’s been talking about her favorite player since she was two years old,” Jaclyn said. “She says, ‘Let’s go to the Dodgers!’ and walks around the store. And I said, “OK, you need to relax.”
Her dad explains that she began sports Dodger gear as soon as Amuri was born. And although she hasn’t gone to the game yet, he says he’s looking for the right time to take her.
However, it may seem like Amuri was in the game before he was born.
“We went when we got pregnant with her with our belly. Ah, my goodness – she moved around like crazy when the crowd went wild,” Jaclyn said. “I guess I’m just feeling her flip and spin because she was a fan because she was in her stomach.”
Jacqueline even does her daughter Dodger’s bow herself. “If you realised I was a girl’s mom, thankfully I was very crafty so I started making her baby bow.”
Daniel said he began to really become interested in the Dodgers when his daughter turned 2.
“Her birthday is near the postseason, so we were watching the postseason, so she’d ask, ‘Who? Is that what?” Daniel said. “So she was so obsessed with it, we were just starting to name players for her, and that’s when she started naming her favorite players.”
The mother said Amuri plays with toys around her parents, occasionally stands in front of the TV, pointing to a particular player.
Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, Shohei Ohtani and Kike Hernández appeared to have won spots at the top of the toddler list.
As she mentioned Betts and Freeman twice, some of her favorites may even have favorites.
“‘feefeeman’ sooo cute,” one person commented to Tiktok.
“She said loudly and clearly,” another said.
Some commenters pointed out that it sounded like Amri said “Chicken Nuggets” when he said Kaik Hernandez’s name.
