Authorities from the Inland Empire seized £10,000 illegal fireworks hidden inside a shipping container in the city of Pherran.
Police say during a traffic stop on June 27, PD officers from San Bernardino discovered a “significant amount” of illegal fireworks in the vehicle and $5,400 in cash.
As a result of their discovery, officers searched the residence of Phelan’s suspect, where they discovered a 25-foot transport container packed with thousands of pounds of illegal fireworks.
A Draco AK-47-style assault weapon was also recovered from inside the home, police said.
According to San Bernardino PD, the suspect was arrested on multiple charges related to possessing and selling illegal fireworks.
Authorities helped to safely remove explosives.
The attack occurred days before the July 4th fireworks lit up the Southern California sky.
“As Independence Day approaches, the San Bernardino Police Department is reminding the community that illegal fireworks are not only dangerous, but also pose important public safety hazards,” writes San Bernardino PD.
