CHICAGO (WGN) – Eight people were shot and four were killed on a drive-by outside a Chicago nightclub late Wednesday night, police say.
Filming took place at River North Neighborhood outside Artis Restaurant and Lounge and Dunkin’ Donuts around 11pm. Many clubs and businesses are in the area, and witnesses say they have heard a rapid fire and cars race from the area.
“It hurts trauma. I just shaking,” one female witness said.
Nightclub workers told Nexstar’s WGN that they are holding an album release party for Chicago rapper Melo Bucks on Wednesday night. The club was closed when the shooting occurred, so many people were out.
Police say a preliminary investigation shows a dark car passed the nightclub just minutes after 11pm.

The victims of the shooting were rushed to hospitals in several different regions, and witnesses told WGN they didn’t wait for an ambulance to arrive there and began driving the victim to the hospital.
“I heard a lot of shootings, and then there were a lot of police officers driving in the ambulances, firefighters, rescues,” said a witness named Desshaun.
Police say at least 16 of the 18 victims ranged between the ages of 21 and 32. Five men and 13 women were shot dead.
A 24-year-old man, a 25-year-old man, and two women were declared dead, police said. A particular age of the two women killed has not yet been given.
Of the other 14 people filming, police say, three were listed in dangerous conditions, nine were listed in good condition, one was listed in fair condition and one was listed in stable condition, police say.
A woman named Ariel, who lives in the area, said she can just look at the faces of people on the scene and say something bad has happened.
“I was cooking downstairs when I heard this raucous thing,” Ariel said. “When I saw the first face that came downstairs, I literally grabbed the phone. …I know the face, I know something is happening. The moment I saw that face, I grabbed the phone.
