With the time approaching one of Southern California’s biggest outdoor public holidays, KTLA meteorologist Henry DiCarlo is looking at the time when the upcoming heat wave is expected to hit.
“On Friday, July 4th, we’re seeing temperatures that will be very comfortable for us,” Henry said Thursday morning.
As it’s July, afternoon temperatures will be warmer, but they should stay average or a bit below. So, “The upcoming weekend should be great,” Henry said.

While the outlook is good for holiday weekends, the National Weather Service (NWS) warns that a heat wave is heading towards Southern California.
“The first important broad heat wave of summer will be preferred mid- to late next week,” the NWS said in its forecast Thursday morning.
Tri-digit temperatures are expected to peak afternoon highs on Wednesday or Thursday, and are expected to reach the valley and inland areas.
The heat wave could last until next weekend.
