The Pasadena Rose Bowl drops this year’s traditional fireworks show and will switch to drones for the first time in the history of the popular Independence Day celebration.
The Friday night sync drone light show will feature the headline for the three-day food said food festival in the iconic rose bowl.
The Rose Bowl is the latest in a long list of Southern California venues that have switched to drones due to the environmental risks of traditional fireworks shows.
This year, there has been particularly high concern this year, following the devastating palace and Eton fires that made national headlines after the eruption in January.

Even without fireworks, the show promises to be epic with over 700 drones hovering 400 feet above the stadium field.
According to the Rose Bowl website, tickets can be purchased online via Eventbrite and will not be sold at the door.
The event will begin at 3pm on Friday and continue until 10pm, with the drone show scheduled to begin around 9pm.
“There is no limit to how long you can stay at the time of the day. Event tickets are usually sold out before the event, so we recommend purchasing them in advance,” the Rose Bowl Site said.
