Orange County Animal Control employees seized at least 120 cats from and around Fullerton’s home on Wednesday.
Several Fullerton Police Department officials joined the county animal control officers around noon Wednesday, around noon, according to the Orange County Register.
Jackie Pratt, a spokesman for Orange County Animal Control, said that members of the public had called the agency and reported that “many cats were worried about welfare at the residence.”
The total amount of seized cats has not been determined. The register reports as it was still being processed for ingestion at Tustin’s agency headquarters. The cats were of a variety of breeds and ages.
Pratt said many cats suffer from some form of infectious disease and will receive appropriate treatment and care with agents. She added that the cat didn’t appear to be abused. Unfortunately there was too much.
Pratt said the case was being investigated as a criminal matter and that it is likely a misdemeanor animal cruelty charge, citing failure to properly care for the animal if the charges were filed. After receiving treatment, the animals were eventually made available for adoption and the investigation was completed, Pratt said.
“We have a lot of cats in the shelter, so if they want to raise or adopt any of our current residents, it helps to make room for these rescue,” she added.
No arrests were made. Residents who live in the home where the animals were seized declined to comment.
