According to a council report, beer, outdoor folding chairs and grill tools could be more expensive for barbecues on July 4th this year. Analysis shows that since President Donald Trump announced the tariffs he cleaned in April, the total cost of a typical food trip for cooking has increased by 12.7% per year. The report shows that six-pack mirror lights and Coors Lights have increased by more than 13% since April.

Americans may spend more on popular barbecue items this July 4th at the prices of products like beer, outdoor folding chairs, and grill tools, according to a new congressional report.

The total cost of a typical food trip for cooking has increased by 12.7%, from the tariff announcement swept by President Donald Trump in April, according to an analysis of Democrat minority in the Joint Economic Committee. For 10 summer cookouts, price increases were calculated using consumer price index data for the most popular food and beverage items.

A minority analysis shows that six-pack bottled light domestic beers from Miller Lite and Coors Light have increased by more than 13% each since the tariff announcement in April. The analysis looked at Walmart to find the most popular products and tracked prices using Aislegopher, a price check website, from April 1st to June 26th.

For imported beer, a minority analysis found a 10.5% increase in the price of Peroninastro Azuro bottles and a 9.5% increase in the Modelo special bottles.

In April, Trump announced a 25% tariff on beer imports and empty aluminum cans. In early June, his management hiked 50% tariffs on imported aluminum.

Some beer brands, including Modelo’s owner Constellation brand, say higher aluminum costs weighed in margins.

The analysis also saw the price increase for Key Cookout Gear by tracking popular lists on Amazon using price check websites Keepa.com and CamelCamelcamel.com.

According to the report, since April 1, Amazon listings for Coleman folding camp chairs have increased by 47.7%, while the 25-piece griddle accessory kit has increased by 17.7%.

Other products showed a more modest increase. Banana Boat sunscreen rose 8.1%, Reynolds wrap aluminum foil rose 6.9%, Weber propane grill increased by 5%, and disposable plates and cookware multipacks rose by 3.3%.

Another report from Rabobank, the Global Food and Agribusiness Bank, found that the cost of a 10-person barbecue rose 4.2% this year, reaching $100 for the first time. The BBQ index highlighted the increased price of beef as a contributor.
