Judge blocks Trump’s asylum ban targeting border guards

U.S. immigration shelters have been closing doors in large numbers as the border crisis has declined significantly.
Two shelters were closed in Pima County, Arizona, in January, according to the Arizona Daily Star. In San Diego, Jewish Family Services closed its shelter in February. In particular, it cites policy changes that have the CBP One app disappear as part of the reason for the closure.
According to Texas Public Radio, the San Antonio-based immigration resources center, which opened in 2022 in 2022, closed in February when it opened in February.

According to NBC 10 Boston, New York City has closed 63 immigration shelters this year, with Massachusetts falling to four shelters from over 120 in 2024, according to PIX11. The outlet reported that 24 Massachusetts shelters closed their doors this week.

The White House also touts the closure of processing facilities along the border. The US Customs and Border Patrol told Fox News Digital in May that all “softside” facilities in Texas, California and Arizona were closed.
“As a result of the President’s recent enforcement actions, the unprecedented decline in uncertainty among illegal aliens, CBP does not operate a temporary softside processing facility where illegal aliens are held at certain locations along the southwest border.

“The US Border Patrol has full capacity to manage the detention of aliens arrested at a permanent USBP facility. Personnel and other resources dedicated to temporary processing facilities will be directed towards other priorities and speed up the progress of CBP to gain operational control of the Southwest border,” the spokesman added.

There have been reports of a decline in Mexico who are trying to illegally come to the United States. The latest border numbers remained significantly lower than compared to the Biden administration, as border patrols only had 6,070 tropical border concerns in June, revealing that there was a zero release in May or June. CBP data showed that on June 28th there were only 137 encounters at the southern border.
Comments from the White House come as the House is shut down to determine a Trump-backed settlement bill, which includes the president’s main funding that brings about $170 billion in total on the president’s borders and immigration agenda, according to Reuters.

Billions are heading towards immigration and customs enforcement as agencies step up deportation efforts, including the agency employing at least 10,000 agents, according to the White House. Additionally, the bill aims to more than double the ability to detain people during deportation lawsuits and also fund the construction of border walls.

“When a big, beautiful bill is passed, the security progress on this historic border will be permanent and the largest massive deportation campaign in American history will be carried out,” Huston added.
Naturally, not everyone participates in the outlined immigration measures.
“The deportation planes will be released to steroids,” House Minority Leader Hakeem Jefferies said in a long house floor speech Thursday.
