House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) has successfully made “one big beautiful bill” by promoting a close coordination between Congress and President Donald Trump, saying it is part of the “beauty of a unified government.”
Congress officially passed Trump’s hundreds of millions of dollars bill Thursday afternoon after consecutive sleepless sessions in both the House and Senate.
The massive agenda package will be signed to be signed on Trump’s desk in time for Republicans’ July 4th deadline.
The “Big Beautyville” passage was the first major law passed under the Trump administration, indicating that it was the first time that Republicans passed while controlling the administrative division and both Congresses.

Speaking to reporters after the passage of the huge spending bill on Thursday, Johnson said, “The beauty of a unified government is that this is exactly how it works.
“How it works is because it is the best for people and that adjustment has great consequences for people.

The speaker said all people within the Trump administration, including the vice president and cabinet secretary, are willing to ask questions from members of Congress.
“President Trump was very generous in answering questions to himself. Vice President JDVance was engaged in the direct. We had Cabinet Secretaries in many different federal agencies answering questions from members. Some of them even got their agency lawyers really deep into the weeds of details,” Johnson said.

“It was tough four years before this last election cycle,” the speaker added. “I knew that if we had acquired a unified government, we had to literally correct every area of public policy. Everything was an absolute disaster under Biden Harris’ radical awakened, progressive Democratic administration.”

The bill promoted Trump’s policies on tax, border, defense, energy and national debt, and passed the House slightly, primarily by partisan votes. All but two Republicans, R-KY. Rep. Thomas Massey and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-Pa.) voted for the bill and passed 218-214.
This was a commanding victory for Johnson and the President, both of which spent hours overnight trying to persuade GOP critics to critics of the bill.

After the bill passed, Johnson described his role in switching the vote to “yes” to GOP Holdout, saying, “My leadership style is trying to become a servant leader.”
He said many members wanted to take the time to “go really deep in the weeds” about the changes the Senate made to the bill, so they felt it was his job to give each member time to address their concerns.

“As a leader, I knew I had to take the time to do that,” he explained. “And some of it went late into the night, and I wasn’t going to make anybody – I wasn’t going to demand someone’s position on the vote or bill until they felt they had exhausted the opportunity, so we did that.
