A man was shot dead in Compton on July 4th, authorities confirmed with KTLA on the weekend of the holiday.
A call came at 3:46pm regarding gunshot casualties, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, located in the Willow and Rose Clan Avenue area. Deputies arrive and find an adult man dead at the scene. His identity was not released anytime soon.
LASD announced on Saturday that detectives’ continued investigation revealed that the man was shot dead in the 1200 block of North McDitt Avenue. He then ran to Willow and Rosecrans Avenue, where he collapsed before being discovered by deputies.
The suspect, whose identity has not been revealed, is said to have fled the vehicle scene north on McDivitt Avenue.
Lawmakers arrive to find a man lying in an area suffering from gunshot wounds. Police did not detail where his man was shot or how many gunshot wounds he had. The Compton Fire Station arrived quickly and declared that the victim had died at the scene.
Citizen.com footage recorded around 9pm shows authorities have set up a crime scene in the area, with the victim’s body covered in sheets and lifted onto a stretcher, with views from the July 4th fireworks display in the background.

“The investigation is currently underway and there is no information available at this time,” LASD said in a release on Saturday.
