Espart, Calif. (AP) — Northern California authorities discovered that all seven of their bodies have been missing since last week that exploded in a fireworks warehouse that sparked a wildfire and rocked a small farming community.
The barrage of fireworks that exploded Tuesday led to other spot fires, causing massive flames that collapsed a Yolo County building about 40 miles (64 kilometres) northwest of Sacramento.
All human remains have been recovered from the burnt warehouse site, but the identity of the deceased was withheld family notice, the county said in a statement Sunday.
“The crew continues to mitigate the explosive dangers present on the scene,” the statement said. The cause of the explosion was under investigation.
Two people were treated for injuries following the explosion in the town of Enkolt, officials said.
The warehouse is managed by catastrophic fireworks with over 30 years of experience in designing and producing catastrophic fireworks shows, according to screenshots on the website before it was discontinued.
“Our hearts and thoughts have impacted the people we lost, their families and everyone in our community,” the company said in a statement last week. “Our focus remains on those who will be directly affected by this tragedy and will fully cooperate with the appropriate authorities in the investigation.”
The wildfires cover nearly 80 acres (33 hectares) and burnt the surrounding agricultural fields, officials said.
