A man was arrested in Glendale Galleria on Sunday after a suspected hammer attack outside a department store in Bloomingdale. According to video footage, a man was arrested.
The incident was captured by Jose Hernandez, an unofficial photographer of the KTLA, who happened to be at the mall. Hernandez recorded the moment when Glendale police officers ordered the man to the ground and detained him near the entrance to the department store.
Hernandez told KTLA that the suspect appears to be attacking people randomly with a hammer, but details of the incident have not been confirmed independently by law enforcement. In the video, mall security guards are seen standing nearby as officers arrest the man. What appears to be a bloody hammer can be seen on the ground.
The Glendale Police Department has not issued an official statement and did not immediately respond to KTLA’s request for comment.
As of Sunday evening, no charges had been made public and the suspect’s identity had not been released.
