With temperatures rising this week and residents were expected to cool off to head to the beach, the Los Angeles County Health Department warned the public on Monday to avoid seawater in several Los Angeles County beaches due to high levels of bacteria.
The beaches affected are:
Avalon Beach on Catalina Island, 50 feet west of the pier and the swimming area west of Green Pleasure Pier. Ramires Creek, Paradise Cove, move up and down the coast 100 yards from the pier. Go up and down the coast 100 yards from the Bel Air Bay Club in Will Rogers State Beach. Mother Beach at Marina del Rey, the entire swimming area. Castle Rock Storm moves up and down the coast 100 yards from the Topanga County Beach drainage channel, a storm drain. Santa Monica Pier and 100 yards up and down the coast from the pier.
Meanwhile, the warning has been lifted for beach areas below which results from a recent sample identify water quality levels within state standards.
