The Justice Department said Wednesday it had summoned more than 20 doctors and clinics involved in providing sex change procedures to minors.
The agency said it was investigating healthcare fraud, false statements and more.
“The medical professionals and organizations that have severed children in the service of distorted ideological conditions are held accountable by this Department of Justice,” Attorney General Pamela Bondy said in a statement.

The DOJ did not say which doctors or clinics were offered the subpoena.
In April, Bondi issued a memo indicating that the DOJ would investigate and prosecute people who provide transgender treatment to minors.
Bondi said it directs all US lawyers to investigate all suspected cases of genital mutilation (FGM) in women under the “so-called “gender-affirming care” flag,” and directs “prosecuting all FGM crimes to the fullest possible extent possible.”
Bondi also ordered the consumer protection department of DOJ’s citizen division to investigate manufacturers and distributors engaged in misunderstanding by making false claims about non-label use of adolescent blockers, sex hormones, or other drugs used to promote sexual change in children.

On the first day of his second administration, President Donald Trump issued an executive order banning the federal government from funding, sponsoring, promoting, supporting, or supporting sexual change in children.
The order also pledged to strictly enforce all laws prohibit or restrict the proceedings of minors.
“Today, across the country, health professionals are injuring and sterilizing more and more impressive children under radical and false claims that adults can change the sex of children through a series of irreversible medical interventions,” the order states. “This dangerous trend has to become a taint in our country’s history and end.”

In June, the U.S. Supreme Court held that Tennessee’s law banning certain transgender medical treatments against state youth was not discriminatory.
