The immigration and customs enforcement business within the clinic earlier this week was heated as it tried to come to the defense of an undocumented man seeking shelter within the facility.
The July 8 incident unfolded inside the Ontario High Surgery Centre after 30-year-old Dennis Gillen Solis and two other landscapers who worked outside the building were targeted by federal immigration officers with masks and bulletproof vests.
Javier Hernandez, who is with the Inland Coalition for Immigrant Justice, said the agents had not identified themselves.
“They basically started chasing him,” he explained. “[Solis] After that, I ran through the clinic where I worked to find a shelter. ”
In the video of the tense conflict, scrub staff can be heard and seen telling agents to leave.
The two agents were on either side of the clinic’s doorway, both of which covered their faces, cries in the doorway frame, trying to restrain Solis as they desperately tried to hold him in their arms.
Hernandez told KTLA’s Carlos Saucedo that clinic staff are asking agents to present their identification, badges or warrants, but they never did.
It’s not the first time federal immigration agents have identified themselves or refused to use physically offensive tactics since the execution business began in LA County in early June.

On June 29th, a Santa Ana man and several struggling agents were seen in the middle of the street, and one of the federal officers repeatedly hit him with the baton. The incident occurred less than two miles from where the fathers of three active Marines, another landscape architect, were hit multiple times before being taken into custody. In that case, a Department of Homeland Security official claimed that he attacked an officer with a weed groomer.

In a statement to the KTLA about the incident at the surgical center on Tuesday, DHS Deputy Director Tricia McLaughlin said:
“The Ice Officer performed targeted enforcement surgery to arrest two illegal aliens. The clearly marked ice bulletproof vest officer approached the illegal alien target upon leaving the vehicle. One of the illegal aliens, Dennis Gillen Solis, from Honduras, ended near a law enforcement facility where he fled on foot. The illegal aliens then tried to block the arrest by locking the door and blocking the movement of law enforcement, and even tried to call officers who claimed to be “invited.”
It is unclear whether staff at Ontario Advanced Sledge Centre will face federal accusations.
Hernandez told KTLA that clinic staff had locked the door before the other two agents arrived, and when the agents noticed the door was locked, they tried to break it.
“This is really scary,” Hernandez said. “We’re seeing federal overreach. Every day we see them trying new tactics. If we don’t push back, we’re not fighting back.
As for Solis, who organized the GoFundMe to help the family pay legal fees, he is in custody downtown in federal jail.
