Calls for accountability have been ringing on social media following the suspension of six Secret Service agents tasked with protecting President Donald Trump at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13th last year.
Florida GOP MP Anna Paulina Luna called the suspension “the absolute worst.”
“This is the absolute lowest stage given the shocking security failures of the day,” Luna writes to X.

Utah Republican Sen. Mike Lee posted the news on his personal account, telling one user in a thread that he intended to “know” why Secret Service agents were suspended instead of being fired.
“Why didn’t this happen a long time ago?” I asked the user what their post was.
“Deep states are intentionally slow,” Lee replied in a thread.

Retired FBI agent Jennifer Coffindafer said there is a expected move to pause the agents involved.
In a post on X, Coffindaffer wrote that “incompetence is life-threatening” from the Secret Service, referring to Corey Comperatore, a 50-year-old firefighter, father and husband who was shot and killed that day.
The attacker, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, fired eight shots from an AR-15-style rifle from the rooftop about 400 feet from the stage Trump was talking to. One bullet grazes Trump’s right ear, but another fatally hits the rally attendee competition, which protected his family.

The Secret Service agency confirmed with Fox News that disciplinary action occurred in February. The revelation precedes a Senate report outlining Butler’s security failure.
The agency faced additional criticism when Trump’s second assassination attempt was made in West Palm Beach, Florida, following the July 13 incident.
The second incident led to the resignation of the then secret service director, Kimberly Cittle.
