In response to the devastating floods that destroyed parts of Texas Hill Country over the weekend of July 4th, the Langer deli, one of Los Angeles’ oldest delis, is stepping onto the plate.
The “World’s Best Pastrami” house will be holding “Help Texas Day” on Saturday, July 12th from 8am to 4pm
A one-day donation drive benefits the Texas Hill Country Community Foundation, a nonprofit that provides direct assistance to flood survivors.
“As a parent and grandparent, my heart is broken,” said Noam Langer, owner of the historic Langer delicatessen restaurant. “I talked to staff and customers all week. Everyone wants to help, but I don’t know how. This is my chance to come together and make a real difference.”
Over the weekend, extreme flooding hit Texas, killing at least 120 people, over 170 still disappearing, and several families were kicked out of their homes.

Cash donations are accepted both within the restaurant and on the curb. Walk-up or drive-by donors can make a solid contribution from the phone through touchless slipping via QR codes. LAPD cadets will assist with a drive-up collection for those who prefer to stay in their vehicles.
As a thank-you gesture, all donors, whether they give $1 or $1,000, are not required to choose free drinks, meals only, or purchases.
“Langer has always stood for the community,” Langer added. “We gathered after 9/11 during Covid, and now we are showing up in Texas.”
The event will be held at Langer’s Deli, located at 704 S. Alvarado St., a staircase just outside MacArthur Park.
