Camarillo’s first responders completed a six-hour search for cannabis farm employees who were attacked by immigrants earlier in the week.
The Ventura County Fire Department (VCFD) said it received a call from an employee about a colleague at Glasshouse Farm’s cannabis farm on Friday around 4:30pm. The call comes after about 200 people were arrested Thursday in immigration operations in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties.
On the phone, the employee said some of his colleagues may be on the property and may need assistance. Sheriff’s deputies and K-9 rescue team joined in for the search.
According to VCFD, there were no individuals in the end, and the search was completed around 10pm
The Department of Homeland Security said agents were deployed at Glass House Farm facilities in Camarillo and Carpinteria on Thursday. The operation was protested for hours at Amarillo, where a conflict occurred between agents and protesters.
Seven people were injured during the clash with an agent and four were taken to a nearby hospital, according to the VCFD. The severity of the injuries in those individuals has not been revealed.
