To reduce shelter overcrowding and connect animals with permanent homes, Pasadena Human has launched a summer adoption campaign that abandons all fees for adult cats and dogs.
The Hot Dog & Cool Cat promotion, which will be held until July 20th, will be held for those looking to recruit pets that are more than six months old.
The initiative is one of the busiest times for animal shelters where intake rates are skyrocketed and there is a lack of space in the kennel.
Currently, Pasadena Humane cares for nearly 150 adoptable cats and dogs. Shelter officials hope that the fee payroll campaign will help increase adoption and reduce pressure on staff and facilities.
“We are thrilled to be able to offer this opportunity for our community to recruit loving peers for free,” Marissa Sunny, senior director of placement at Pasadena Human, said in a statement. “There’s no better time to make a difference in your pet’s lives than it is now.”
This promotion is funded by the Pet Care Foundation and has additional support from grants from the Georgia B. Rider Foundation. Adoption fees are exempt, but Pasadena humans continue to apply standard screening processes to ensure that their pets match the right home.
All adopted animals are castrated or castrated, tinned, and vaccinated before returning home. The shelter is open daily from 10am to 5pm, with adoptions being held on a first-come, first-served basis. More information, including a list of available pets, is available at pasadenahumane.org.
