Democrats, Republicans and independent candidates for New York City mayor don’t agree much, but New Yorkers seem to be watching the view that former governor Andrew Cuomo wants to run the Big Apple.
Democrat and Republican candidates for New York City mayor Zoran Mamdani and Curtis Swawa quickly responded to Andrew Cuomo’s announcement that he would remain in the race as an independent after the New York governor lost the Democratic primary a few weeks ago. While blowing up Cuomo, the pair also used the opportunity to slap incumbent independent mayoral candidate Eric Adams.
“Andrew is a double-digit loser in the primary. He lost 12 points. He had a chance. He spent $25 million to send a message. New York is hearing that. Comments followed another press release where his campaign was issued on Sunday.

“I welcome you to this race. I feel confident on the major night I faced Andrew Cuomo three weeks ago,” Democratic candidate Mamdani said at a press conference Monday after Cuomo’s announcement. “Andrew Cuomo and Eric Adams did so because of the fact that we are focused on fighting for working New Yorkers while we travelled ourselves to make deals in the back room with the billionaire. [Cuomo’s primary loss] meaning. “
Mamdani may have imagined himself as Cuomo’s next mayor, but added that the main democratic outcome showed New York’s “hunger for a new kind of politics.”
“I understand that it’s difficult for a former governor to agree. [his loss] Because it’s a denial of politics he’s practiced what he’s known for years, and the same politics that we have turned on the pages. ”

The failure of Mamdani to return these positions could trigger a calculation in the Democrats: “Five Alarm Warnings”
Sliwa, a GOP contender in New York’s mayoral race, won a chance on Monday after Cuomo announced that he would again enter the race to slam not only Cuomo, but Adams as well.
“Andrew Cuomo has lost his primary and is hiding in the Hamptons. Eric Adams skipped him and ran away to Fort Lauderdale. Now they’re both running as independents to stick to the relevance,” Swa said Monday. “I am the only candidate with a major party nomination, a record of serving New Yorkers for 50 years, and a real path to victory. I am campaigning in New York, listening to it, leading and fighting for people while they play music chairs on the wrecks.

In response to criticism, Cuomo’s campaign representative focused on Adams’ comments.
“This is the primary that didn’t take part because the mayor knew he was losing,” Rich Azopaldi told Fox News Digital. “The governor had 36,000 votes three weeks ago when the mayor was at the pinnacle of his popularity four years ago, and people actually wanted to give him a chance.”
Azzopardi also pointed out an email that Cuomo sent to supporters on Monday. He pointed out that he “made a mistake on the primary.” I also spoke to Mamdani, but did not address Sliwa directly.
“I don’t think that New York City voters have voted positively for a socialist form of government that is hostile to business and economic growth, and I believe Zoran Mamdani will pose a serious threat to the future of the city we love.

“I believe that all of us who love New York City must unite by running the strongest candidate against Zoran Mamdani in the mayor’s November general election. Our common goal must be to run the strongest candidate against Mr Mamdani. So I accepted a proposal against former governor David Patterson and candidate candidates against the candidates. The other candidates will act as spoilers and stop rather than guaranteeing Mamdani’s election.”
On Monday, current mayor Adams denounced the proposal Cuomo said in an email to supporters. Supporters are trying to pledge to integrate the rest of the campaign space around the strongest non-mandani candidates.
“This proposal came out. It was Andrew’s proposal. He’s going to use people and say he really wants to come later and say, ‘OK, I support what independent people do,'” Adams said Monday.
