The 25-year-old Disabled Army veteran, who gained federal custody during last week’s controversial attack on Cannabis County in Ventura County, has gained federal custody, according to the United Farm Workers Coalition.
George Rix, a US citizen and security guard at Glass House Farm in Camarillo, was taken into custody on Thursday, July 10 amid a massive immigration enforcement action that sparked protests and led to the death of at least one person.
The union announced his release Sunday night, saying Retes had spent more than three days in custody.

United farm workers claimed that the removal was “illegally arrested” while trying to get away from the chaotic scene.
His family said they were unable to contact him for days and eventually found his abandoned car that had smashed the windows.
United Farm workers added that while Rickles and his family are “awesome for their extensive support,” they are demanding privacy and do not want to talk to the press at this time.
As of Monday morning, the federal agency had not publicly checked the status of detention in custody or addressed allegations of his family and union.
