The daughter of late Arizona Democrat, Rep. Raul Griarba, has taken a major step towards her father’s success in Congress.
Former Pima County manager Adelita Grialba won the Democratic primary in Arizona’s 7th Congressional District, according to the Associated Press.
The young Grillarva has broken through four other candidates in the Blue Blue District, spreading from Tucson to Yuma, including almost the entire length of the southern border with Mexico.
Grillarva, 54, enjoyed the support of some of the state’s top Democrats, including Senators Mark Kelly and Reuben Gallego, Attorney General Chris Mays and former Gabriel Giffords.

Grillarva was also supported by two top progressive champions, Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York.

Hogg, who campaigned with FOXX over the weekend, predicted that he would “make history in southwestern Arizona.”
And Hogg compared Fox’s burgeoning polls on the final day of the primary campaign to Mamdani, a 33-year-old Ugandan-born state legislator who headed former governor Andrew Cuomo last month and nine other candidates.

Like New York City’s mayoral primary, the Southern Arizona contest has been viewed by many political experts as a barometer of where Democrats are headed, as they deal with its establishment and the longstanding division between outsiders and progressive, moderate wings.
Former state lawmaker Daniel Hernandez was also competing for nominations. He is well known in Arizona for helping save the life of former Democrat Guifold in the 2011 shooting in Tucson, where he was an intern in lawmakers.

Indigenous activist and academic Jose Malvid Jr. and former medical executive Patrick Harris Sr. were running for the Democratic nomination in the Hispanic district, where Democrats are nearly 2-1 outperforming Republicans.

More than $2 million has been cooked to run advertisements in the Democratic primary, with some money coming from outside groups.
Adelita Grijalva will be considered a front runner in the special election on September 23rd to serve the final 15 months of Elder Grijalva’s term. He passed away in March from a complication related to cancer treatment.
