Packaging for labor is rarely attractive – unless you are Olivia Culpo. The hospital bag video of models and influencers is now viral to be luxurious and (probably) practical.
Kalpo, 33, who announced the birth of NFL player Christian McCaffrey earlier this week, sparked a conversation with Tiktok, showing exactly what she packed into the hospital. Since it was posted on July 10th, the video has received over 1.9 million views and nearly 4,000 comments.
“I’ve been working hard on this, and I know how overwhelming the whole process is,” Culpo says at the start of the clip. “I promised to make videos a while ago. I’ve seen a lot of these and they’re really funny.”
Calpo will soon be revealed.
“Everything about this first suitcase is what I’m comfortable with,” she explains. “Two fluffy comforters, a Christian twin size and me… two sleep masks. I have one mini fan. I actually got another.”
She goes on to share that she intends to stuff aromatherapy items, Chasa’s gorgeous robes and photos of her dog. Calpo topped her list of comfortable items with what she described as the “most ridiculous” stuffed in: a set of frameless flickering candles.
As for costumes, Calpo covers them from matching lounge robe sets to “all of my favorite pajama sets,” to “all-cashmere black outfits,” nursing bras and products for swelling of the feet.
Culpo ends the video with a self-aware dose. “I hope you all find it useful, but if this is useless and I think it’s ridiculous…and then I agree with you a bit.”
Some viewers were surprised by the enormous amount of stuffed stuff, while others defended her approach.
“As a worker’s nurse… literally bring what you want,” one viewer wrote. “Comfort is important, especially if you have a C-section and long hospitalization.”
When one user questioned Calpo’s decision to include clothing in many white bedding, she replied, “If you’re bleeding enough to pass through the pads/diapers/bandages and soak them on the bedding, it’s not a packaging failure, it’s a serious medical problem.”
“And again… the hospital sheets are already white. Are you going to ask if there are other colors for you?”
For the most part, people were debating the inclusion of her candle.
“The flickering candles literally made me laugh,” one commented, while another said, “People who hate flickering candles didn’t give birth because they made my room more peaceful!”
“I’m happy to have these,” replied Calpo. “They have remote controls. I had an AC section so I couldn’t get up and turn the lights on or off (it’s horribly fluorescent anyway). I wanted to be able to see the baby at night or whatever.
Ultimately, most users wanted to know what actually worked in the model at the end of the day.
“Are you kidding OMG?” one commented. “It’s so – do another video and tell me what you actually used.
Olivia Culpo and Christian McCaffrey are growing their families. On March 10, the 32-year-old model announced on Instagram that she was hoping for her first child, writing “Next Chapter, Motherhood.” The Miss Universe winner shared a sweet video of her and the San Francisco 49ers walking through the grass field and posing on a maternity shoot.
