Critics are torn through New York City mayoral candidate Andrew Cuomo’s latest campaign ad. This shows that the former Empire governor is helping fellow New Yorkers by jumping off his car next to the city’s streets.
“New Yorkers, start the engine… together, we can fix this city!” Cuomo said in an Instagram post that includes a campaign video. “We can be there for each other. We will help. We will. And we will be together.”
The accompanying video begins with Cuomo overlooking the open engine compartment and appears to signal the driver to give the engine a crank.
You will then hear a click before Cuomo works, panning down the camera, showing a black jumper cable attached to the negative battery terminals and a red cable in the hands of the mayoral candidate.

Cuomo then connects the red cable to the free battery terminal before jumping to where he enters the driver’s seat of another vehicle, and is recognized as him.
After starting the vehicle, Cuomo examines the vehicle’s rearview mirror and switches the shot to the other vehicle’s driver and turns the key.
The car starts quickly and the driver goes outside with a smile on his face. He then slaps the five with Cuomo, but the candidate’s faces are not visible.

The two then hand the jumper cable to the other driver and then talk.
The video may give some a positive vibe, but critics have used all the opportunities to slap Cuomo’s latest ads.
One viewer wrote, “He connected the cables in the wrong order,” while another wrote, “Hello Cuomo’s media team! Please exclude this from your resume.”
Cuomo’s marketing team was also criticized for not being able to contact voters.

When asked for comment Wednesday, Cuomo’s team told Fox News Digital the response was “highly stupid.”
“The governor is a trained mechanic who placed himself in a university driving tow trucks for AAA,” the spokesman said. “A permanent online troll wasted time criticizing him, who is likely to have to call the AAA if his fellow New Yorkers are in the same situation, they should touch on some grass.”
However, not all comments were negative about Cuomo. In fact, one viewer praised the video and Cuomo’s campaign ads.
“Now, let’s hear those engines roaring! Let’s start the engine!” viewers wrote. “A type of leadership with experience and halt that will help you complete a stranger when you need it. Don’t worry about getting your hands dirty and always lending assistance.

The former three-term governor, who has been seeking a political comeback after resigning amid multiple scandals in 2021, was persuasively defeated last month by Democratic mayor Mamdani.
Mamdani’s main victory over Cuomo and nine other candidates has shaken the Democrats, making the 33-year-old state legislator from Queens, a Ugandan-born MP, the first Muslim and first millennial mayor in the country’s most populous city.
In a video on Monday, Cuomo announced his decision to stay in the race, “Only 13% of New Yorkers voted in the June primary. The general election is in November, and I’m in it to win it.”

Cuomo then accused, “My opponent, Mr. Mamdani, offers a smooth slogan, but there is no real solution.”
While he acknowledged Mamdani’s victory at the primary, Cuomo kept the door open for the November run as a candidate with election rules in New York State Permit.
