A fire ignited Wednesday afternoon in the mountain hills of Riverside County, rapidly growing to 331 acres and prompted evacuation orders in nearby rural communities, officials said.
The Dale fire was reported by Lugo Road and Highway 371 in Aguanga at 12:30pm, according to riverside forces with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. According to Cal Fire Riverside, Blaze was initially burning at moderate spread rates, with crews making good progress at the fire boundary at 3:15pm.
Residents living in the area of Kahira booked near Riverside Lake, Aguanga, Anza and fires were ordered to evacuate, but those a little further away were placed under evacuation warnings. Maps of communities affected by orders can be found here.
A care and reception centre has been opened for residents affected by the ANZA Community Centre, 371, ANZA. The Animal Evacuation Centre was established at the Riverside County Department of Animal Services, located at 581 S. Grand Avenue in San Jacinto.
According to Cal Fire, 216 firefighters, 37 engines, four dozers, four water tankers and two helicopters were assigned to the incident. Fires were included at 0% as of 6pm
According to the National Weather Service, the temperature was in the mid-’80s, with wind blowing 10 mph when the fire ignited.
