According to the Wall Street Journal, President Trump sent Jeffrey Epstein a 50th birthday letter that he had silenced to Jeffrey Epstein, including a naked woman, her breasts and a smiling “Donald” signature that mimics the shy “Donald” signature.
The report comes as the president continues to fight the release of Justice Department files in Epstein, a dishonest investor who died in prison.
The journal reviewed copies of the indecent letters that Gislaine Maxwell collected from Epstein’s friends and colleagues, and compiled them into a leather album in 2003 to mark his birthday.
The album is part of a document reviewed by the Department of Justice during Epstein and Maxwell’s initial investigation, sources told the Journal. It is unclear whether it is part of Trump’s recent review of Epstein records.
The president refused to write the letter. When the journal contacted Trump for comment, he said: “This is fake. It’s a fake Wall Street Journal.”
Shortly after the report was released Thursday evening, Trump threatened to sues the Wall Street Journal and owner Rupert Murdoch.
“These aren’t my words, they’re not the way I speak, and I don’t draw,” Trump wrote on his social media platform. “I told Rupert Murdoch it was a scam. He told me that this fake story should not be printed.”
Trump’s letter to Epstein contains a mock dialogue printed inside the outline of a naked woman. According to the journal, “My mates are amazing. Happy birthday.
In addition to that letter, the birthday album included a similar card written by former Victoria Secret CEO Leslie Wexner, as well as a letter from former Epstein lawyer Alan Delschitz, according to the Journal.
A poll conducted by Economist/Yougov this month found that 83% of Trump’s 2024 supporters wanted the government to release all material related to the Epstein incident.
The dishonorable investor died in a New York City prison in August 2019 and faced federal charges against a conspiracy to sex trafficking a child. In 2022, Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in prison to help a longtime fellow sexually abused girl.
Former Trump advisor and fundraiser Elon Musk has criticized Trump for refusing to share the Epstein files.
“@RealdonaldTrump is in the Epstein Files,” Musk wrote in a subsequent deleted X-Post during his withdrawal with the President last month. “That’s the real reason they’re not publicly available.”
Trump is facing a call to appoint a special prosecutor to review potential releases of the Epstein documents.
White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt repeated the president’s opposition during a briefing Thursday.
“The president will not recommend a special prosecutor in the Epstein case,” she said. “That’s what he feels like.”
Washington Director Michael Wilner contributed to this report.
