He resigned a few days after he was caught by Jumbotron at a cold play concert with Andy Byron, the company’s chief talent officer.
The instantly viral moment shows Byron and Christine Cabot swaying together at Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts. Coldplay frontman Chris Martin realizes and jokes after the beat, saying, “They are either cheating or are very shy.”
The crowd laughs. The Internet runs on it.
Within hours, Byron was identified as a man in the clip. Cabot’s name immediately followed. The video has earned over 26 million views on Tiktok and X, and speculations about its relationship – memes, jokes and some misconceptions quickly followed.
On Saturday, the Cincinnati-based data company confirmed Byron had “bided to resign” and the board had accepted it.
“Our leaders are expected to set standards in both conduct and accountability, and these standards have not been met recently,” Astronomer wrote in a LinkedIn post. The company stopped dealing with concerts directly, but the timing was barely questionable.

The post added that co-founder and chief product officer Pete DeJoy will serve as interim CEO and the company will search for permanent exchanges.
In previous posts, astronomers denied that Byron issued a personal statement, addressing third-party misidentifications seen in several versions of the viral clip.
“Our perception may have changed overnight, but our products and our customers’ work weren’t,” the company added on Saturday. “We continue to do our best. We are helping our customers with the toughest data and AI issues.”
Founded in 2018, astronomer has established himself as a leader in AI and analytic data orchestration tools.
