The Minnesota branch of the Democratic Party approved the left and right Minnesota Senators of Omar Fate’s campaign for Mayor Minneapolis on Saturday.
Fateh has announced approval from the Democratic Farmer Workers (DFL) party on social media. He secured support for Democrat Mayor Jacob Frey.
“I am extremely honored to be a candidate for the mayor of Minneapolis to be a DFL approval candidate, a message that Minneapolis residents are making as normal in broken promises, veto and politics.
DFL did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Fox News Digital.
RNC Chairman asserts Mamdani’s “Face of the New Democrat”
Fatae has received many comparisons with Zoran Mamdani of New York City. Like Mamdani, Fate is a Muslim democratic socialist, 35 years old and a mate of Gen Y.
Fate, the son of Somali immigrants, became the first Somali-American to be elected to the Minnesota Senate in 2020. If elected mayor, he vows to raise the city’s minimum wage, increase the supply of affordable housing, and fight what he calls “police violence.”

In a campaign statement, Frey criticized the DFL’s support of Fate, claiming that the party treaty where the decision was made was “irregular.”
“This election should be decided by the entire city, not the small group that has become representatives, especially in light of the highly flawed and irregular conduct of the treaty,” said campaign spokesman Sam Schlenberg.

“Voters will make a clear choice between Senator Fate and Mayor Frye’s record and leadership. We look forward to steering our vision to voters in November,” added Schlenberg.
