Coldplay’s Chris Martin confirmed that during the band’s first performance on Saturday, he would give concert participants a cheeky head about “Kiss Cam” following the viral moment that swept the internet last week.
The band was the first time they had in Wisconsin’s Camplandore Stadium on Wednesday since a concert in Boston, Massachusetts, and the embrace between astronomer CEO Andy Byron and the blonde woman.
Byron and the woman quickly hid when “kiss cam” panned them, and at that moment it went viral, claiming he was a married man. However, NBC News has not independently confirmed this or identified women.
In a video posted to social media from Saturday’s concert, Martin appears to be trying to avoid the controversy by introducing “Kisscam.”
“I want to say hello to some of the crowd,” Martin cheered from the crowd. “The way we do that is to use a camera and put some of you on the big screen.”
Martin continued: “So, if you’re not wearing your makeup, put on your makeup now.” He didn’t explicitly mention the incident on Wednesday.
During Wednesday’s performance at Gillette Stadium, “Kisscam” was on display with the couple present on screen. She turned to hide her face as she panted one man and woman whom she was holding, and the man quickly came out of the frame.
“Yeah, look at these two. You’re fine,” Martin said at the time, according to video footage from a widely distributed concert. “You’re fine. Ah, what?
The footage spread like a wildfire on the internet, and Byron was identified as a man accepting women. On Saturday, Byron resigned from his role as an astronomer, CEO of Data Company.
Before his resignation, Byron was placed on a vacation from an astronomer. The New York-based company, which employs fewer than 500 employees according to its LinkedIn profile, appeared to be working on how fanfare about the “Kiss Cam” incident had an impact on its reputation in a statement on Saturday.
“Our perception may have changed overnight, but not our products and our customers,” the company said.
