The investigation into the deaths of three LA County Councillors was killed by an explosion of military-style hand rena bullets, all considered inert, but law enforcement officials from Santa Monica to Marina del Rey were found outside their apartment Monday.
The explosion occurred last Friday morning at the Viscale Regional Training Center in East Los Angeles.
The three representatives, Detective Joshua Kelly Ecklund, Detective Victor Remus and Detective William Osborne, were killed while operating “an unattacked weapon,” sources told KTLA on Friday. All three were assigned to the LASD Special Enforcement Bureau’s Arson Explosive Details.
Preliminary reports suggest that the explosives may have been connected to a surgery performed one day before the fatal explosion (one day before the fatal explosion) in Santa Monica. Deputies, including the three who died, were called to the Bay Street apartment building to assist Santa Monica Police Station officials in investigating an explosive device in a storage unit near the building.
A woman cleaning the storage bin found the device and called it authorities. The neighbor told KTLA that it is likely that he was left behind by a former tenant who moved in about five years ago.
