First on FOX: Officer Lindsey Graham, Rs.C. and R-Texas John Cornyn, urges Attorney General Pam Bondy to appoint a special advisor to investigate newly declassified information regarding the Obama administration’s intelligence report assessment of Russian interference in the 2016 election.
The appeal of special advisors Graham and Cornyn, who learned of Fox News Digital’s announcement on Thursday morning, comes the day after the Department of Justice (DOJ) created a “Strike Force” this month to investigate evidence that was declassified by the Director of National Intelligence.
Graham and Cornyn, senior members of the Senate Judiciary Committee, did not deal with the strike force, but in a statement showed that outside officials brought in to oversee politically sensitive cases run independently of the Attorney General.
Fox News contacted DOJ to comment on the request for a special advisor.

Senator John Cornyn, left, Lindsey Graham will be present on September 26, 2017 on the Senate Judiciary Committee entitled “The Separation of Special Advisers and Powers.”
“Appointing an independent special advisor, as we have supported in the past, would in this case be a tremendous service to the country,” Graham and Cornynn said.
Gabbard’s declassified intelligence agency shed new light on the Obama administration’s resolve that Russia tried to help President Donald Trump in the 2016 election. Gabbard argued Wednesday during a press conference that Obama and his intelligence officer promoted “Russia interfered in the 2016 election, to help President Trump win, and sold it to the American people as if it were true.”
Graham, who previously chaired the Senate Judiciary Committee, led the Senate’s investigation into the FBI’s investigation into the allegations of Trump-Russia Collusion in the Senate, suggesting that there is a flimsy basis for the department to launch a Trump investigation in 2020.

“All the information released makes it clearer that the entire rumor of Russian conspiracy was created by the Obama administration and destroyed the will of the American people,” Graham and Cornyn said.
Their comments follow Trump, who accused former President Barack Obama of “treason” this week, after DOJ launched a criminal investigation into former CIA director John Brennan and former FBI director James Comey.
Critics say Gabbard’s claims were inconsistent with past Congressional reviews, some of which were led by Republicans. Meanwhile, Obama issued a statement in response to a wave of headlines suggesting he was trying to hurt Trump’s election chances.

“By respecting the presidency, our office usually doesn’t give dignity in response to the constant nonsense and misinformation that flows from this White House,” Obama spokesman Patrick Rodenbush said. “But these claims are outrageous enough to deserve one. These strange allegations are ridiculous and weak attempts of distraction.”
