About five masked intruders broke into Encino’s home on Thursday with the latest in a series of home invasions and other crimes in the San Fernando Valley community.
Possible robbers were reported just before 1pm in the 4300 block of Valley Meadow Road. Police say masked individuals were seen remaining boxes in black Mercedes-Benz.
Details of what was stolen from the residence were not available immediately.
The homeowner who asked not to be identified said the robbery happened shortly after she left the residence. The intruder broke into the glass door at the back of the property, causing an alarm system.
A neighbor called the police.
The crime is the latest in several invasions in the community, including the only July 10th that led to the shooting death of “American Idol” executive Robin Kay and her husband Tom Delca.
In another case, the 14-year-old was shot and injured by a homeowner not too far from Kay and DeLuca’s home and was held on suspicion of robbing Encino’s home. The teenager whose name has not been released due to his age has been taken into custody by police after his mother reported that he was injured in a drive-by shooting in South Los Angeles on July 17, according to law enforcement records.
The community met at a public safety meeting Monday night with members of the Los Angeles Police Department and the County District Attorney’s Office.
