HERSHEY, Pa. (WHTM) – A 9-year-old child died in an incident Thursday afternoon on the boardwalk in Hershey Park, Hershey Entertainment and the Resort have announced.
Hershey Park Boardwalk is a water park located in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
“From the moment our lifeguard team realized that their children were suffering, they provided immediate rescue and then followed by an ongoing, coordinated life-saving effort by our lifeguards, on-site first responders and healthcare professionals,” said John Loan, CEO of Hershey Entertainment and Resorts. “The child was taken to Milton S. Hershey Medical Center without delay, where despite everyone’s tireless efforts, the child did not recover.”
“Our hearts break for this child and the family of this child,” continued the lawn. “We will expand the deepest sadness of the dol’s meanness towards their loss. We respect their privacy and will not publish any personal details at this time.”

Lawn said the safety of park guests “always our number one priority,” and an internal review will be conducted.
“Every family visiting Hershey Park knows this: your safety and well drives every decision we make,” Lone said. “We will honor the memory of this young guest by thoroughly investigating this tragedy and continuing our focus on ensuring the safety of our guests at Hershey Park.”
Derry Township Police say they are “in the early stages of this process and we are working to gather all the facts of the case.”
On Friday, the Hershey Park app showed that the “coast” wave pool is the only attraction in the closed area. According to the Hersheypark website, the coast is a 378,000-gallon wave pool that gradually deepens from 0 to 6 feet.
