The Pentagon has paused participation in all think tank events until further notice, deviating from Washington’s history of dialogue with the civil security realm.
The move is “an attempt to ensure that the Department of Defense does not lend its name and credibility to organizations, forums and events that go against the values of this administration.
“Now there will be no DOD officials attending an event for America’s last organisation promoting globalism and hatred (President Donald Trump),” Pentagon reporter Kingsley Wilson wrote about X.
In the future, the Department of Defense (DOD) civil servants’ office will conduct a “full review” whenever officials are invited to a meeting to decide whether the event will proceed with Trump’s agenda.

Such security events are often funded by foreign governments or defense contractors and serve as space for such players to push messages or products for sale to key officials, and space for defense officials to send their own messages from the US government.
The move is a gathering of defense-oriented industry leaders and researchers after the Pentagon pulled staff out of their participation in the Aspen Security Forum.
Wilson said the secretary’s office believed the event “promoted the evil of globalism, the negligence of our great nation, and hatred of the President of the United States.”
Several military officials were scheduled to speak at the event.

Historically, defense secretaries have participated in defense conferences and think tank events such as the Munich Security Conference and the Reagan Defense Forum.

Hegseth skipped at the Munich security conference, but attended the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) Shangri-La dialogue in Singapore in May.
Aspen previously told Fox News Digital: “For over a decade, the Aspen Security Forum has welcomed non-senior officials and experts who bring experience and diverse perspectives on Republican and Democrats, civilians, the military and national security issues.
