The Tujunga home, linked to the suspected cult defendant leader, was attacked by federal agents and El Monte police, as authorities served as search warrants, claiming money laundering, sex trafficking and tax evasion.
The property gained infamy as it became the subject of a Netflix documentary called “Dancing for the Devil,” a talent agency for Tiktok dancers and churches.
The hit documentary records the story of a young tiktok dancer who came to Los Angeles to grow up, but is said to have been replaced by Robert Singh, who claimed to be the head of the talent agency and pastor of the church.
Federal agents and officers smashed the gates and stormed the home connected to Singh.
“It’s really creepy,” said a neighbor named Christian. “I’ve always wondered, me and my wife always said, ‘Is there someone there? Why do those windows stop?’
Another neighbor, Ernie Alanyan, said he thought it was suspicious that the church was constantly closed.
“No one had access to it, he said.
The documentary led to a duel lawsuit between Singh and the suspected victim.
Sarah Colon, who represents the alleged victim, said she was “satisfied” with the federal government investigating Singh.
“We hope that our clients and other victims will achieve justice,” Colon said.
In response, Singh’s company called the documentary a slanderous work of fiction.
Legal analyst Royal Oaks said prosecuting someone for suspected cults could be a difficult fight
“The problem is, it’s not illegal to fall into the line from Charlatan,” Oaks said. “However, if a suspected cult person commits a crime of luring or sexual assault, yes, they could be charged with a crime.
A trial between Singh and the suspected victim is scheduled for October.
