Since the start of President Trump’s second term, the Department of Homeland Security social media team has been publishing content flows appropriate for residents of the meme spraying basement on 4chan.
Grainy mug shots of immigrants. Link to Butt-Kissing Fox News Stories about Maga Anything. WHINY bashing politicians calling for Ramigra for treating the Constitution like a pee pad. A compliment to Goebbels’ worthy of “heritage” and “hometown.” A painting by Thomas Kinkade, outside the White Picket Fence of the 1950s, goes straight out from “leave it to beaver,” with the caption “Protecting Hometown.”
All this induces gags, but with a purpose. The racist ID of this administration will be revealed in real time in case anyone is still suspicious.
In June, DHS shared a poster originally created by the White Power Scene. This shared his stern faced uncle Sam, urging Americans to “report all foreign invaders” by calling for immigration and customs enforcement. On July 14th, the DHS X account featured a painting of a young white man embracing a baby in a covered wagon in the Great Plains, captioning, “Remember the heritage of your hometown.”
When my colleague Haley Branson Potts asked about Pioneer Painting and the Trump Administration’s trolls’ social media strategies, a White House spokesman asked to “explain how to deport illegal aliens,” adding that hatred “should be mad.”
Now, take a look at the latest DHS SALVO on July 23rd X of 19th century paintings by John Gust, entitled “American Progress.”
A blonde white woman robes with a golden star just above her forehead and a white white woman floating in the center. She holds a book in her right hand, and a loop of telegraph wire in her left hand that crosses the pole. On the right, beneath her are miners, hunters, farmers, loggers, stagecoachs and trains. They rush westward, illuminated by the puffy clouds and the soft glow of dawn.
Angelic women are Colombia, anthropomorphism of American historical women. She appears to be leading everyone towards Native Americans, including naked-chest women, bedecked warriors with headdresses, and more towards Indigenous peoples. But it’s too late: covered wagon trains and whip-wielding teamsters have already invaded their land.
White settlers are literally on the light side of the painting, while Native Americans are covered in dim, dark sides.
That’s not subtle, people!
“A proud heritage, a home that is worth defending,” DHS wrote as the caption “American Progress.” It may soon be printed on a $20 bill, the way this administration is going.
Gust finished his painting in 1872, when the United States was at the final stage of its conquest. A civil war took place. White Americans had moved southwest in large numbers, confiscating, squatting and totally murdering Mexican-Americans who had been there for generations through courthouses. The Army was standing up to defeat Native Americans completely. In the eyes of politicians, new threats were emerging from the Pacific Ocean. Especially the large-scale Asian migration of Chinese people.
Scholars have long interpreted Gust’s infamous work as an all-talk about the fate of the manifesto. The United States had God-given rights to occupy as many America as possible. John L. O’Sullivan, the newspaper who created this term in 1845, expressed his hope that the country’s expansion would be openly linked to white hegemony, and that it would “push black people into areas of already mixed and confused blood,” and that “lead to the ultimate disappearance of the Negro race from our borders.”
O’Sullivan also added that California has left Mexico “a stupid distraction and distraction” and joins the US, “The Anglo-Saxon feet are already holding the border. The already attractive military advancement of the Anglo-Saxon transition is ringing it, armed with the environment and environment.”
This is a legacy the Trump administration believes is worth promoting.

Executives get shocked and scolded when critics accused racism, but Trump’s base knows exactly what’s going on.
“This is our country and we cannot embarrass our legacy on the radical left,” one X user commented on the post “American Progress.” “The fate of the manifesto was amazing!”
“Now is the time to conquer the land,” another wrote.
DHS appears to have an atmosphere of the heritage American movement, and now has bleeding into the conservative mainstream from its far-right beginnings. Its supporters argue that Americans whose ancestors have been here for generations are more deserving the wealth of this country than they have come in the memories of their families living. Our values, according to our supporters, should not be based on outdated concepts like freedom and equality, rather, the customs and traditions established by Anglo-Protestants before large-scale immigration have forever changed the country’s demographics.
In other words, if you’re white, you’re fine. If you’re brown or something else, you probably aren’t down.
Our own Vice President, JD Vance, is in favor of this Pendejada. In a speech to the Claremont Institute earlier this month, Vance outlined his vision of what Americans are.
“America is more than just an idea,” Vance told the crowd. “We are a specific place, a set of specific people and a specific belief and way of life.”
Strange – I learned people come here in high school.
“If we stopped importing millions of foreigners, the Vice President continued: “We allow social cohesion to form naturally.”
All Southern and Eastern Europeans who came at the turn of the 20th century are still tribes after the Appalachian Scots – Irish – Vance’s allegedly ethnic affiliations – lived here for centuries by his own admission.
Vance added Trump, “Enger.”[ing] The people we serve are living a better life in the country that their grandparents built. “I think it excludes me as my Mexican grandparents settled here in the fall of their lives.
The irony of raising Americans of what is called heritage is that much of the Trump World appears to have been ruled out.
First Lady Melania Trump was born in what is now Slovenia. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is a child of Cuban immigrants. Vance’s wife’s parents came here from India. Stephen Miller, the ancestor of Jewish immigrants, the mastermind behind Trump’s deportation, was not recently permitted after arriving at Ellis Island from Emperor Russia for $8 in his name. The former was Prussian and the latter was the son of Irish and British immigrants, so even Gust and O’Sullivan were not counted as heritage Americans by their strictest definition.
But that’s the evil genius of Maga. Trump has declared that he would welcome anyone to his move, regardless of race, creed or sexual orientation (except trans people), as long as they are committed to owning LIB.
Americans are very myopic about their history, and some minorities, if not totally ignorant, consider them to be welcomed by the legacy folded by Vance and his likeness. It’s no wonder a record number of voters, especially Latinos, jumped on a Trump train in 2024.
“American Progress” may replace the red hat as the ultimate maga symbol. For them, it is not a shameful artifact. This is a roadmap for Americans who are hellishly bent back to eras of eradication.
Like I said, it’s not a subtle message – if your eyes don’t close.
