House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) said on Sunday that Jeffrey Epstein’s ex-girlfriend Gislaine Maxwell worth a life sentence and rejected the idea of a potential pardon for a convicted sex trafficker.
Appearing on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Johnson was asked if he supported Maxwell’s pardon, but the chairman emphasized that the decision ultimately belongs to President Donald Trump.
“I think 20 years have been Pitzens,” Johnson said of Maxwell’s time behind the bar. “I think at least she should be sentenced to life in prison. So consider all of these unreferable crimes.”
“It means it’s hard to put into words how evil this is and how she adjusted it and at least a big part of it under criminal sanctions. “Again, it’s not my decision, but like any reasonable person, I have a big pause on it.”

While leaving the White House on Friday on his way to Scotland, Trump was asked if he was considering Maxwell’s pardon or tolerance. The president left the door open and said, “I’m allowed to do that, but that’s something I didn’t think about.”
Johnson said he supports the positions of the president, the FBI and the Department of Justice. As for Maxwell, she was questioned by Associate Attorney General Todd Blanche at the federal prison in Tallahassee, Florida for two consecutive days last week. Her lawyer told reporters that she had angled her for generosity and answered questions about about 100 potential Epstein peers.
“It’s the president’s decision,” Johnson said of Maxwell’s potential disorder. “He said he didn’t think of it properly. I’m not going to get in front of him. It’s not my lane. My lane is to help the House direction and control and use all the tools within Arsenal to reach the truth. To decide what they’re going to do.

The speaker said the petition lacked “unspeakable crime, bad evil” and the protection of minor victims who were “unmasked.” Johnson said Massey and Kanna “have said they don’t want child and sexual abuse information to be revealed, but they are citing false provisions in federal law, making it impossible to do so.” The speaker argued that Republicans on the House Rules Committee are committed to a better drafted approach to protecting innocents.

Asked about Maxwell’s potential pardon, Massie told NBC’s Kristen Welker early in the program, “It’s up to the president, but I think she should testify if she has the information that can help us.”
“Let’s get it there and whatever it takes to force them to testify, as long as it’s true, I agree,” Massey said.
Kanna said she doesn’t believe Maxwell’s sentence should be commuting, and said she was worried that Blanche had met her. He agreed to Massey that Maxwell should testify, but pointed out that she was charged twice for perjury.
