Joe Manganiello is helping to clear these shelters.
The “Deal or No Deal Island” hosts and “Nonnas” stars announced Monday by NBCuniversal Local will be hosted by this year’s Clear The Shelters TV Special, NBCuniversal. Special premiere on NBC on Friday, August 8th.
Manganiello receives the hosting baton from Amanda Seyfried, who played the role last year.
“These animals have been abandoned and it needs help with the shelter being cared for them,” Manganiello said at his release. “That’s why we are proud to clear the shelter to promote pet recruitment and raise funds to help the shelter run.”
Manganiello has a special connection to the adoption of animals. He wasn’t the pet owner and was not about to be alone when he happened to meet a dog bubble about six years ago.
Bubble, a Chihuahua/Pomeranian mix, who was six years old at the time, was dealing with serious health issues and she was struggling to land in her eternal home. However, she immediately liked Manganiello. Manganiello took in the bubbles and got medical assistance and decided to officially adopt them.
“The bubbles that rescue my dog are one of the best things I’ve ever done in my life,” Manganiello said. “I hope people feel my honest enthusiasm and that encourage them to experience an ounce of what I have if they are in a position to welcome shelter pets into their lives.”

It cleared NBCUniversal Local’s annual pet adoption and donation campaign, promoting adoption for nearly 12 million people, and raised more than $5 million in donations for shelters and rescues they have participated since it began in 2015.
