Mayor Karen Bass announced Tuesday that he had appointed Domenica Lynch to serve as the new general manager of the historic monument of El Pueblo de Los Angeles, including the historic Orvera Street and Pico House.
Lynch’s appointment marks a significant milestone as she will become the first Latina to lead Elpu Eblo. She is currently the executive director of the Aspen Institute’s Latino Research Program. She is convening cross-sector leaders to promote more prosperous American economic mobility and change in systems.
“Elpu Eblo is not only the birthplace of Los Angeles, but also a cultural anchor for restaurants and small businesses in the heart of downtown Los Angeles,” Mayor Karen Bass said. “In this challenging time, especially for the immigrant community, Elpu Eblo needs leaders who can marshall the resources they need to maintain its history, and can also revitalize the hubs and event spaces of living work.
Lynch brings over 20 years of experience in community building, raising funds, and implementing a strategic vision to manage resources for the most needy communities.
Lynch, appointee of Elpu Eblo Ros General Manager, said: “We look forward to moving forward with her vision to reinvigorate Elpu Eblo and partnering closely with city councils, merchants, local leaders and the wider community. Together, we reaffirm this historic space as a vibrant destination that reflects the soul, diversity and promises of Los Angeles. I am committed to mobilizing the resources, partnerships and collective energy needed to help it thrive.”
Previously, Lynch was president and CEO of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute, a national nonprofit dedicated to developing the next generation of Latino leaders and was executive director of the University of Southern California Latino Alumni Association. A USC alumnus, Lynch began his career at Univision and wrote a commitment to the happiness of the community, both Spanish and English, about university access, financial aid and scholarships. Her professional background extends to the corporate sector as a leadership position at the Bank of America and as a member of the Bank of America National Community Advisory Council.
Lynch’s appointment will be considered by the Arts, Parks, Library and Community Enhancement Committee, and will then be presented to the entire City Council for confirmation.
