What do you know

Four people, including a police officer out of New York City, were killed Monday in a shooting in a midtown Manhattan office building. New York law enforcement has identified the gunman at the Park Avenue Building, 27-year-old Shane Tamra in Las Vegas. He was a former runner at Granada Hills Charter High School and Santa Clarita’s Golden Valley High School, with a three-page note found in Tamura’s wallet.

The gunman who fired fire on Monday in a New York City office building and killed four people has been identified as a former Southern California high school football player.

New York law enforcement has identified the gunman at the Park Avenue Building, 27-year-old Shane Tamra in Las Vegas. He is a former runner at Granada Hills Charter High School and Golden Valley High School in Santa Clarita.

Tamura was seen carrying a long gun when he entered a Manhattan skyscraper.
There is the National Football League and Blackstone, an alternative investment management company. Authorities said Tamura fired in the lobby and went to another floor to fire more rounds.

Four people were killed, including a police officer on the outskirts of New York City. Authorities said Tamra died after pointing her gun.

A three-page note was found on Tamura’s wallet, an official familiar with the investigation said overnight.
Officials familiar with the investigation said Tamura expressed his anger at the note that his mental illness could be linked to playing football in his youth.

Specifically, the notes included references to CTE, chronic traumatic encephalopathy. CTE is a progressive neurodegenerative disease seen in individuals with a history of head trauma. Symptoms include cognitive impairment and mood, personality and behavioral changes, and motor disorders. Diagnosis can only be done through autopsy.

It was not immediately clear whether Tamura had been diagnosed with CTE.

According to the high school sports website MaxPreps, Tamura caught 616 yards and five touchdowns on 126 carries and 229 yards and two touchdowns as a senior at Granada Hills Charter High School. According to Maxpreps, he rushed for 774 yards and 11 touchdowns on 139 carries in Santa Clarita as a junior in 2014.

Dr. Thom A. Mayer, medical director of the NFL Players Association, worked with thousands of athletes in his career to raise three boys of his own. This is what he says about weighing the risks of youth sports with traumatic brain damage.

Tamra recently drove from Las Vegas to New York City, authorities added that investigators found the BMW rifle case with rounds, ammunition magazines and loaded revolvers.

“I’d never have thought violence was something you could relate to him,” former classmate Caleb Clark told NBC News. “Everything he said was a joke.”

Former coach Walter Robbie described Tamura as a “great player” who was a talented runner-up and “real elusive, real agile.”

“He came in, worked hard and let his nose down,” Robbie said. “He was a quiet kid, well mannered and very coachable, and no matter what he had to do, he would.

“I’ve just been blown away.”

Tamura did not play in college or the NFL.

In an interview with MSNBC on “Morning Joe,” Mayor Eric Adams was asked about the memo and the possible links to whether Tamra plans to target the NFL office. Adams said Tamra was about to target the league headquarters but went into the wrong elevator set.

“He talked about CTE. He wasn’t an NFL player. There’s reason to believe he’s focused on NFL agencies in the building. And we’ll continue our investigation with our federal partners so we can find a reason,” Adams replied, adding that the NYPD has found additional weapons in cars parked outside.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell addressed the shooting late Monday in a memo to employees. He said an NFL employee was seriously injured in the attack and was last said to have been hospitalized in a stable state.
