The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office accused her mother of trying to sneak into Sylmer’s juvenile detention facility on Thursday.
Jenny Morenopala, whose child was housed in Barry J. Nidolph’s juvenile hall, is said to have tried to introduce dangerous drugs to other youths whose son and other youths are being held in detention facilities.
“Introducing drugs in safe facilities will put public safety and livelihood at risk and undermine rehabilitation,” said Guillermo Viera Rosa, chief probation officer.
The 41-year-old was scheduled to be arrested Friday after being safely taken into custody on July 11 by the Los Angeles County Department of Probation’s Special Enforcement Business Team.
Morenopara was initially contacted by a supervisory deputy probation officer in 2023 and found to have more than 30 tablets tested positive for fentanyl, authorities said.
The district attorney said the woman was first arrested in 2023 and was released shortly thereafter.
“Fentanyl is too dangerous – 100 times stronger than morphine, 50 times stronger than heroin – is not dealing with its lethality with the severity and immediacy it requires,” LA District Attorney Nathan Hochman said in a statement.
Prison records show Morenopara was released on bonds two days after his arrest.
